With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, many are searching for the perfect way to show their loved one just how much they mean to them. In today’s post, I wanted to share a few of my favorite romantic getaways that are just outside of the city of Toronto. There’s no need to travel across the globe or break the bank for a little romance – these cute staycations are the perfect romantic getaway and will have your significant other falling in love with you all over again!
About a three-hour drive north of Toronto, this is the ultimate couples retreat in Ontario. This cute and cozy inn offers all-inclusive packages, adventure packages, and romance packages so regardless of if you and your partner are looking for a relaxing getaway or a weekend of adventure, you’ll be able to find it here. Each suite is furnished with its own beautiful wood burning fireplace and you can arrange with the inn for there to be sparkling wine waiting for you in your room upon arrival.
What makes Sir Sam’s Inn so popular is the famous Waterspa. A giant hot water pool featuring a circuit of hot jets, waterfalls, and bubbling beds are just waiting to melt away your stress and anxiety. After your dip into the Waterspa, you can book you and your significant other in for a relaxing couples massage to put the perfect cherry on top of your romantic getaway.
For those looking for a more adventurous Valentine’s Day, Sir Sams offers dogsledding packages where you and your loved one can drive a team of dogs through the Haliburton Highlands, enjoying the beautiful winter landscape before cuddling up with some hot chocolate.
The Brookstreet Hotel is one of my go-to’s and where Logan and I are planning to spend our Valentine’s Day this year. This high-end hotel is located just a short drive outside of downtown Ottawa, providing a nice, quiet getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and really enjoy some downtime with your loved one.
The hotel features a top of the line spa and award-winning restaurant, both of which are featured in their overnight spa package. The rooms are large and spacious with comforting amenities and incredible customer service ready to accommodate your every need.
After you and your loved one have taken advantage of the on-site spa and enjoyed a three-course dinner at Perspectives Restaurant, you can enjoy an Ottawa Senators hockey game as the rink is located a short drive away from the hotel. If hockey isn’t your thing, you can take your partner on a shopping spree at the nearby outlet mall.
Winter is one of the most beautiful times to visit the cozy region of Niagara On The Lake. It’s ice wine season and the local wineries are open for business and wine tastings as well! Niagara On The Lake is another perfect destination for those looking to escape the noise of the city and really enjoy some quality downtime with their loved one. You’ll love walking around the small town and popping in and out of the wine shops and other local vendors lining the streets.
Queen’s Landing is one of the most beautifully decorated hotels in the famous wine region. The Georgian decorating gives the property a very magical feel that is sure to make your loved one feel like absolute royalty. The hotel also offers an extensive array of dining and spa packages, perfect for pampering each other on your romantic getaway.
Just two hours north of Toronto, lies a picture-perfect winter wonderland resort. The Muskokas are famous for being a summer cottage favorite, but it’s open for business in the winter too! With cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails, and a 1.6km ice trail to skate on, this is the perfect Valentine’s Day getaway for those looking to experience some outdoor winter adventures.
Cedar Grove is an especially beautiful couples retreat that features a wood burning fireplace in each room, wet jet tubs, wet bars, and a bar fridge. To top off your romantic weekend, they even offer sleigh rides through the forest to visit a century farmhouse and sip some hot chocolate next to a bonfire.
Collingwood is one of the most beautiful getaways just outside of Toronto. With Blue Mountain Ski Resort and Blue Mountain Village, it’s the perfect place for a couple’s Valentine’s Day getaway. The Trillium Westin resort is by far my favorite accommodation in the village, overlooking the ski hills and attached to the famous Scandinavia Spa where you can bask in hot thermal baths while watching the snow fall.
Blue Mountain is a popular area that is usually filled with skiers, but I still think it’s a beautiful and secluded little spot to spend a few days with your loved one. Those looking for some active adventures can hit the ski hills to ski, snowboard, or even go tubing! And then take a break and warm up those muscles at one of the nearby, top-rated spas in the village. The Westin also features Oliver & Bononcini Café and Grill, a beautiful place to enjoy a candlelit dinner and celebrate your love.
