About Me

“Emily is a Canadian beach bum on a quest to see the world and save it at the same time.”

Airplanes and Avocados is a travel and lifestyle blog, giving readers a unique insight into sustainable and healthy travel, while providing resources for young people and students to inspire their next adventure.

Hi there! I’m Emily, a twenty-something student with a passion for adventure. I fell in love with travelling after my first trip abroad when I was sixteen. Since then, my restless soul has taken me through much of Western Europe, Hong Kong, Bali, Hawaii, and much more of North America. Check out the map below to see where I’ve travelled!

I want to see the entire world, learn every inch of this earth, and in order to do that, I need to save it first. As an environmental governance and GIS student I am using my education to complement my travels and learn all I can about keeping our beautiful world safe and healthy. I hope to one day use my degree specifically to aid in oceans governance and marine life protection policies.

The ocean holds a very special place in my heart and that’s why I’m always travelling to beach destinations! I love to scuba dive and surf and hope to one day make the beach my permanent home.

I started this blog to inspire other like minded students to chase after their travel dreams. I’m not the typical twenty something who has forgone university in exchange for travel, or finished my degree and become a globetrotter; I am still a full time student and travel most months out of the year. It’s not always easy, but it’s definitely worth it!

Thanks again for stopping by!
