Ah, Roma, the eternal city. Rome is a place of history, food, and sex; it’s a city you could visit a hundred times and never get sick of and never run out of things to do or see. With its endless array of historical landmarks, it’s hard to know where to begin! To help, I’ve narrowed it down to my top ten things you must-do if you’re visiting Rome.

1. Visit the Colosseum

Obviously, number one on this list is one of the most important historical landmarks in Rome. This amphitheater is the biggest in the world and once housed 80,000 spectators for gladiatorial contests and other public spectacles.

2. Make a wish at the Trevi Fountain

One of my absolute favorite landmarks in Rome, the Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain in the world. Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain you will return to Rome one day.

3. Eat your heart out

Don’t worry about counting calories here. When in Rome…you feast! From delicious pasta to perfectly cooked pizza, to mouth-watering gelato in every flavor imaginable, you’re going to leave this city ten pounds heavier and it will be worth it!

4. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica

Located on the Vatican Hill this religious landmark is quite aways away from Rome, but well worth the trip. St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the largest church in the world and the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture.

5. Marvel at the beautiful Pantheon

My favourite landmark in Rome is this Roman temple. To this day it is one of the most maintained buildings in Rome. When stepping inside be sure to look up and take in every inch of the amazing architecture.

6. Stroll through Piazza Navona

Just west of the Pantheon is one of the world’s most glorious city squares. The main attraction in the Piazza Navona is the beautiful water fountains, the most popular being the Fontana dei Quattrio Fiumi.

7. Take in the view from the Spanish Steps

One of the most vibrant places in the city, the Spanish steps lead up to the Trinità dei Monti church and provide an amazing view of the city square.

8. Drink to your heart’s content

I mean, you’re going to need something to wash down the amazing Italian food and if there’s one thing Italians do better than food, its red wine.

9. Take in the Roman Forum

Surrounded by ruins, the Roman Forum is located in the center of Rome and is one of the most important sites in the city. It was once the center of political life in Rome and the ruins remain to show tourists the reality of Roman life.

10. Fall in Love

Whether it be with the city itself or one of the charming locals with a heavy accent Rome will make you fall in love over and over again.

Over to you, have you been to Rome? What are some of your favourite things to do in the city?
